1995 Eddie Bauer
5.0L 302 V8
trans 4R70W 3.55 non ls
170k mile, tranny has been rebuilt (prior owner)

Getting error code 632 during KOER self test, and yes cycling the od button on and off with engine running....

symptoms are erratic downshifting/upshifting driving 40-50 mph (feels like truck shifting down to 3rd and back to 4th...rpms jump from say 1500 to 3000..

have researched here and there, suspecting throttle position sensor? and/or torque converter solienoid? Any help on where to begin?

 

DJ, I haven't got a clue what other sensors/solenoids might be involved, but I do feel the valve body could easily be acting up. If the valve body ball bearings are sticking all sorts of things can happen.

What I would suggest (it doesn't cost much & it can't hurt) is to add a quart of Lucas Transmission Fix to her, and put some more miles on it.

Lucas can do wonders for an ailing transmission, and can solve multiple problems in older tranny's. Good luck!

BTW: My 96 was getting a lot of spurious error codes, that in fact turned out mostly to be "errors" themselves. The real problem turned out to be something entirely different, that wasn't designed to generate a code.
