89 stuck in 4low
I have a 89 5.0 auto 4x4 long bed.
I was driving down a trail in 4 high, hit what I thought was a stump backed up and when I went to put it in drive it wouldn't do anything. the transfer case shifter would move freely for what felt like it was going into 2wd,4hi,4low but would not move. the engine would just rev. when I tried putting it in park it would grind like its stuck between gears.
I had some one come tow me out and as they were towing me it dropped into reverse in 4hi. I was able to get off the trail but would go into 2wd or 4low. I drove down the road home going about 35mph in 4 hi when I just lost power to the wheels. engine would rev but wouldn't go.
after I got towed home the linkage looked bent so I tried to striated it out and re installed it but now it will only go into 4low and wont shift into a higher gear.
any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
