5.0 to 5.8 Conversion
I have been convinced that I am wasting my time with the 5.0 so I am going to do an engine swap if it is worth the time and money. Cost is about $800. Main use of truck is for towing.
I have a 94 F150 5.0, Auto, 4x4, Hooker headers, MAF. Also, I have a 91 5.8, Auto, 4x4, non MAF. 3.55 in both.
1. Can I straight across exchange
2. Will the 302 headers fit the 351
3. Can I change cam and use same computer.
3. Any hidden surprises.
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. I have no desire to use a 460. Please only respond if you have actual experience in this swap. Thank you for looking.

You are correct in moving to the 5.8 for towing. The headers will fit but might be slightly off on the alignment to the exhaust. I used comp 35-512-8, an RV type grind, it works well with computer. Not all grinds will work. You can use the same computer.
for the most part this is an easy swap. the 5.8 bolts just about straight in where the 5.0 sits now.
a couple of things though;
check the firing order before using the stock computer, remember the 351w(5.8) used a different firing order than the 302(5.0). so you can either change the cam to the 5.0 firing order, OR change the computer to one with the correct firing order. easy enough to do, just grab a computer from a 5.0 mustang GT.
other than that the only issues are the normal engine swap ones, extending wiring, linkage, etc.
