Default 4x4 Engage Issue

I have a 94 F150, 5.0 automatic, xlt .. I have only had the truck for a few months and the 4x4 was working, but, today I hit the 4x4 button and nothin.. The red light on the switch doesn't come on, the indicator light on the dash doesn't light either. Where should I start tracking? I took the front of the dash off to make sure the switch was plugged in, and it was. I noticed no issues with the wiring harness itself. I have a Haynes repair manual, but, it doesn't do much for troubleshooting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

checked all fuses in cab and under hood. They were good. Took the 4x4 switch motor off back of transfer case and cleaned connections and applied dielectric grease. No change. I don't hear any clicking noises when I push the 4x4 activation switch either. Not for 4x4 high or low.

I found an electric motor to engage 4x4 from a 93 but the harness is slightly different. I know I have seen a retrofit article on this but I have looked everywhere and still haven't found it. Can anyone lead me to the right direction?
