Default 4wd Swap

Im currently driving a 94 f150 ext Cab short bed 4wd w/ M50D, and I picked up a 96 f150 ext Cab 8ft bed 2wd w/ E40D...I know the front stuff will be plug and play, but as far as my rear driveshaft, does anyone know if ill be able to use same one or will I need a shorter one? Also...would it be easier to just put the manual trans stuff on the 96 from the 94?

4x4 E4OD and 4x2 E4OD are different, can't use the 2wd unit with a transfer case.

You'd need the 4WD trans, correct transfer case adapter housing (good luck), different crossmember (unicorns), and..... It can be done, just did my 1990. Glad it's finally done. Took me a few months to finish. You could swap what you have much faster.

It's been a month & a half - he probably figured it out by now.
