I am currently reassembling my E4OD on my 1996 4x2. I am completely finished with the rear section of the rebuild all the way up to the forward planet when I found a 9th check all on the floor of my shed. This baffled me as my model year is supposed to have eight 5/16 in check ***** for the entire valve-body (correct me if I’m wrong). Yes, even the the identification stamp says “F6” indicating it is a 96 model year. Can anyone tell me where a ninth check ball could come from? Are there other check ***** in the transmission? Perhaps in the pump or some other sun-assembly? I am quite confused as I am new to transmission repair. Thanks in advance!
