I will be doing Tie-rods+balljoints here in a few weeks. Eventually I want to take my truck to the dunes and have a bit of fun. Its a 2wd, reg cab, short box. I remember riding in my dads mid 80's ford when I was a kid, and it was a blast!!

Is there anything I can do while I have the truck apart, that makes it sand/street friendly??

 

Don't put mudders on it, and make sure you have dust caps on everything so you don't get sand in any greased things.

I don't really know much else. I'll know more when I start turning my truck into a prerunner lol then I can answer more questoins

 

Lol, nice.. A prerunner 4.9L eh?? With a turbo ???

As for tires, I may just let air out of mine. Paddles would be cool, if I had +150hp.
