Replacing passenger side wheel cylinder, couple of questions
I'm replacing the passenger side wheel cylinder on a 94 4x4. Every video I have seen shows that one should pinch off the brake lines (for instance, with a pair of vice grips with rubber hose wrapped around the jaws) so as to not allow more brake fluid to come out.
However, on the passenger side, the rear brake lines are the hard metal variety. Should I go to the driver side rear and pinch off the brake line there where it Ts off with the passenger side line?
Also, as far as bleeding the brakes, would it be RR, LR, RF, LF?
Thanks in advance!
Joel

I would say yes to both your questions here
also, I would suggest replacing both wheel cylinders as long as you are there.
also, do you have access to a power bleeder? can you go rent one for this task?

Thanks for the quick reply!
I don't have access to a power bleeder...I'd have to research that...
I was planning on having my wife help me-one person pump the brakes, one person operate the bleeder valve-works wonders on the motorcycle at least

I never heard that one before about clamping off the rubber brake hose. I would say that would be a good way to ruin the hose or at least make it unsafe for further use. Strange videos you watched. I don't see the need for it because you have to bleed the brakes anyway.

Ended up changing both wheel cylinders...
...because I stripped the bleeder valve screw on the driver's side
I had a line wrench, and had sprayed it with penetrating fluid earlier in the day, but oh well.
While I drove to NAPA my wife had the drum off, the shoes moved out of the way, and the cylinder loosened for my return
Ended up going through almost 2 quarts of brake fluid to flush out all the garbage that was in there. Got a nice firm pedal now.
Thanks for your recommendations!
