Default Leveling the rear

I am thinking of leveling my truck ('96 std. cab, long bed, 2wd) but am considering lowering the rear 2" using the shackle set from LMC. I would like to get larger tires (stock 235's right now) to fill the holes but don't really want the truck to be much higher then it already is. The tires are not that old yet either so I probably wont replace them for another year or two. I have read a lot of people leveling by raising the front but not lowering the back.

My question is has anyone ever done this and what size tire do you think I can use without having issues?

I've got same truck but short bed. Installed cc818 up front, stock is cc820, that might have dropped half an inch. Lowering shackles in rear, only went one inch. My tires are 255/65/17, that's 30 inch by 10.5 and they don't rub. I could not go any larger they are a half inch from black wind dam on front bumper when turning.
