Gear Box Help
So yesterday I replaced my gearbox, power steering pump and pressure line. If you don't have the truck on and try to turn the steering wheel to right lock it will only get to half a turn before lock. If the truck is running and and your turn to right lock the pump starts to bind and really labor the motor. I bled the system for about an hour and went through 3 quarts of fluid with the front end jacked up. Turning the wheel to left lock is fine. I'm just trying to figure out if I got a bad box or pump? Any help would be appreciated.

There's chance that the box wasn't centered before it left the factory. I've had that happen before when I was still working as a tech.
Jack the front end up and put it on some jack stands. Disconnect the tie rod from the pitman arm. Then without the truck running, slowly turn the steering wheel all the way to full right lock. Then turn it to full left lock and count the rotations of the the steering wheel. Once at full left lock turn it back to the right half the number of rotations you counted and stop. This should be center. Lock the steering wheel in that position. Now get back under the front and connect the tie rod back to the pitman arm. Are the front wheels turn a lot more to one direction than to the other?
