So I am replacing the ball joints and have had to cut off both nuts
finally got them off and used the forks to get the knuckle out and the upper stayed in
see pics
Any tricks to get this piece out as I have been hammering away
You might need a torch at this point to heat things up a bit
Try to get the cam out first
If you smash the cam too much it will bind against the threads of the ball joint stud and be even harder to remove
An air hammer with a blunted point from the underside working on the cam only works too
Good luck
So I have torched, tried to go at it with a air hammer at the bottom etc and continued to hammer the bolt at the top and nothing.Put a bunch more rust release again on it so will try again in a while
was thinking maybe cutting the bolt because I have pretty much mushroomed it and try to push the bolt through with the air hammer
That would be next for me too
Cut it off flush with the top of the cam (shim)
Then grind it flat with a angle grinder or other grinder
then back at it with the air hammer
