Default 2.5" Rough Country Lift or 1.5" Leveling springs?

Hey All, - Im new to the forum - Ive been turning wrenches for years and Im looking forward to updating my '89 f150. I bought the truck a few years ago and have really kinda neglected her - I bought her from a farmer here in GA for only $1,400.00 - I was thinking about selling it and getting me 70's f100/f150 - but i've kinda talked myself into just keeping what I've got and leveling it or putting a 2.5" lift on her and stuffing a nice set of wheels and tires under her.

I think that's the route Im going to go. The truck is extremely plain but it's 100% rust free, the 302 runs super - cold a/c - bench seat, am/fm only with 'crank' windows. Perfect truck.

Has anyone installed the 2.5" rough Country Lift? it's part# 42230

I'd like to do it myself, Im concerned with alignment -And when I asked ROUGH COUNTRY about alignment - their response was - it will provide 'factory specs' - that answer makes non sense.

any thoughts? is there a better kit - OR should I just do the 1.5" leveling springs?

Or is there a better choice?

Back when I leveled my 1993, we only had coils as an option.
I don't know hat all the brackets are for with the rough country so I can't speak to that. Part of that kit includes ubolts and spacers for the rear.

If you choose coils you will be fine. I don't know if the RC kit is any better. It does give you shocks, but you can install any shock you prefer if you don't want the ones in the RC kit.

The only kicker for me is I do not know if the 89 was identical to the 92-96 suspension.

Regardless of what you install, it's possible you'll need alignment cams. Most alignment shops will carry those. Well they did when that was a common design. Who knows how common it is.
I suggest talking to your preferred shop to find out if they have the alignment shims in stock. Ford installs a fixed cam. Usually folks will end up replacing with adjustable cams so it can be adjusted instead of replaced at subsequent alignments. If none in stock, see what their lead time is or source them when you purchase the lift parts.
