1992 need help with rotor selection
I paid to have a thorough inspection done on my truck and one of the things they said it needs is brakes and rotors NOW. I wasn't expecting that as I thought it stopped fine, no noise, etc. My "mechanic" and myself will see if the rotors can be turned. But since I know nothing about rotors, what shall I replace them with if necessary. (I'm planning that senario since it's my usual luck.) Can a reader tell me what my cost choices are and also the best places to buy them? I see rotors running from 40 - 180 dollars. I don't need the best but I don't want junk. I would like to stay "stock" if stock is good in your opinion. Thanks alot. There are other issues with my truck but I need to take them one at a time or I'll scream
You'll need to buy new pads too by the way. I have had great luck with buying the cheap rotors with a good ceramic pad. Hopefully you wont need new calipers too. Remember to grease the sliders.
$33 per rotor and $52 for Wagner ceramic pads. @ Oreilly

I'm glad you responded about the ceramic pads. The truck came with a box of rear brake shoes and pads. Apparently the previous owner started to do the brakes and realized he had to do more extensive repairs and never did them. I assume that I can purchase ceramics for these brake shoes? Sorry, I'm a woman and just learning about the inner workings of a truck.
I found this information on the internet. Which of these Pros are more important for a DD truck? Since I must replace the rotors, and the truck has had metallic pads, the ceramic pads might be best.
Thank you Andrew95 for your help.
Metallic Pros:
They're more aggressive than ceramic pads.
They pull heat away from the rotor for cooler braking
Ceramic Pros:
They're quieter than metallic pads.
They dissipate heat better for less brake fade.
They create less dust, and the dust itself is lighter in color.
They're gentler on brake rotors

When you do the rotors, you might as well do the wheel bearings at the same time.
6 parts will be needed.
1 set for each side.
Inner bearing x2
Outer bearing x2
Seal x2
And a good can of grease to pack them with.
You're gonna get dirty, but it's fun.
