Bad pcm
I am not sure what this cylinder one is called
Hi all,
Its been a while since i posted but i think i finally found out the random misfire that has been going on with my truck for years. After running all the test (TPS, air temp sensor etc.) i took out the PCM and found these three capacitors that seem to be friend. I was wondering if anyone has ever replaced these before and what exactly they do (i cant seem to find a diagram for them). Also if anyone could tell me what kind of resistor (size) that last picture is along with that black cylinder looking capacitor (i think its a capacitor) that would be great.
This PCM is out of a 1995 F150 5.8L, E40D 2wd

That black component looks like a diode.I can't tell exactly all the colors on that resistor from the pic. I wouldn't waste time trying to fix that PCM. Save it for a core and get a REMAN from a good parts source. Myself, I would get one from Rock Auto.

The small vertical ones are electrolytic capacitors. They're available cheap, and are easy to replace, if you have a steady hand & understand soldering. Read this thread:

The last one is a high-current power diode. That might take a little more effort to find, and it'll take a MUCH-bigger soldering iron to R&R.
