I also saw no huge threat in a small amount of paint coming off, but yielded to my own inexperience and the comments of the Forum. Most said the bare internals, in an oil rich environment, wouldn't rust. As for prep...with virtually no painting experience...I just bead blasted to bare metal, primed with the paint vendor's recommended 3 coats of primer, then applied the recommended three coats of paint. Coincidentally, I used the same paint you mentioned in your project documentation. I coated the bare internals with penetrating oil to prevent rust until I'm up and running. I'm 61, so I doubt I'll live long enough for it to be a problem.
