Default New gaskets and new issues

So I installed new head gaskets on my 302. Re wired batery cables and installed a new starter while I was at it. I now have an issue where the truck cranks but it won't start.

This isn't a typical crank though. It's cranking the engine but the starter sounds like it's not engaging the flywheel. There is no typical "cranking chug" from the engine.

New parts include the hend gaskets, distributor cap, plugs, wires, batery cables, and starter.

Anyone know what may cause this mystery issue? Started great before I did the work. I've done numerous top end builds and gasket replacements and have never had this issue.

If the motor is spinning than the starter is engaging the flywheel.

And if the motor isn't spinning then the starter isn't engaging the flywheel/flexplate. Either the starter isn't getting sufficient juice, it's defective, or it has some other problem.
