MAF conversion question
I have a 95 f150 5.8 with a speed density setup and want to convert to MAF. Im wanting to put a new throttle body, new intake manifold, headers, cold air kit, and a cam to it eventually. my questions are what all do i need to do the conversion, how much time am i looking at and about how much am i looking at spending?
You have a 95 and it doesn't already have MAF ? I thought they all did by then. It may be a 5.8 thing maybe if you don't have it.
I know the 95 5.0's came with it. And by 95 the 5.0's came with the HO cam so firing orders etc should line up fine with your 5.8.
Should be a fairly simple thing to find a 95 with MAF that you can pull everything you need off of.
Harnesses, airbox and maf sensor, air hoses, all that stuff can be had pretty cheap if you look for somebody who's parting one out. I'd suggest buying a new computer and maf sensor if your budget allows.
Make sure the computer is matched to your transmission as well as the motor.
Some would say that your current engine harnesses could be made to work as is, but I would want to check the wiring real close to make sure that each injector has it's own wire all the way to the computer.
