Crate motor installed. dipstick issues.
I have an '87 F150 Xlt Lariat 5.0L. With nearly 280k miles on it, the motor finally gave out and I had a crate motor installed. All fluids were replaced along with new oil. The problem I am having is with the dipstick. Even though six quarts of oil were used to fill up, the dipstick reads at below the thatched mark, barely showing any oil on the dipstick. I have not found any pools of oil under the parked truck and the new motor runs wonderfully as if the engine had plenty of oil.
Is my original dipstick not compatible with the new motor? Should the crate motor have come with a new dipstick? I don't know why it reads near empty when filled with six quarts...

Hmm I have not thought about that. I read up on what you said and found out the tube can slip further in or out of the block. I'll take a look at it tomorrow when I get a chance.
