I just replaced ignition coil and spark plug wires and now it idles rough and dies, when I used a timing light it was 30 degrees off and the truck will only run if it is turned clockwise as far as it will go

I wonder if perhaps they had the firing order starting with # 1 with #1 on the wrong post and turned the distributor to make it work.
Or did you possibly put #1 on the wrong post - that would cause a problem like you describe.
