Default 5.0 speed density HO cam recommendations

Ok 93 5.0 with E40D. Just want a crusier thats not a dog. So was thinking about switching cam out to a HO roller with 351 firing order. Is this possible and if so what is a good HO cam to put in.

That's exactly what Ford engineered them for, so you REALLY need a stock cam profile.

I have a 76 F100 with a fuel injected 302. It has a 86 mustang roller cam, GT40 iron heads along with a ported mustang lower intake and a few of the other foxbody tricks and it is one of my favorite engines I have ever had. It has 19" of vacuum and starts right up- tons of midrange power from 2500-4000 rpm shifting at 4800 rpm. If you want a lower power band, topping that off with a non-ho manifold from an 86 mustang or thunderbird etc wll give it even more off idle power (from experience- I've done it). Factory parts are pretty good in the right combination. They also have had the benefit of multi million dollar testing programs.

unless you have a long wheelbase automatic 4x4, I would say that the stock mustang cams are not too big for a 5.0 truck and they are easy to find. Someday I will try to combo that build with the original truck manifold in a 92-96 truck or bronco.
