I had the same issue you gotta switch to a filter with a anti-drain back valve like motorcraft, or a high end puralator filter.

Just a noise the l6 needs a filter with a anti-drain back valve to prevent dry starts.

You need to change the filter before you destroy your motor. All you need is filter and a quart of oil.

Will do. This isn't being driven right now so its fine for now. I'm having running issues with this truck right now. Beyond the valvetrain noise.

just know when you get it sorted out, you may not have to do it for another 200,000 to 300,000 miles

I know this thread is a year old but what weight oil were you talking about? I'm assuming not the typical 15w40?
