So I'm sitting here playing with my daughter and staring at this spare third brake light I have and it looks as if the lense will separate from the housing. Naturally I jamb a screwdriver in the space between the two thinking it'll either crack the lense or shatter the housing, but reluctantly enough it popped off just like the fog light lenses do.

So now this has me thinking on what to do, either paint the chrome black or tint it, Then ill reseal it back up with RTV adhesive silicone. But Before i put it back together I ordered some LED boards with 18 SMD's in a rectangular configuration to mimic my LED tails.

And all of you that wish to delete the red lense inside its possible as you can see in the pics. Ill post more pics later when I get painted.

Yeah bud no problem, I think if these led panels turn out to work well, the reflectors won't need to be utilized. Here's the panels ill be using;

Ok Tux, all you need now is a retro for the tail lights and we are good to go! I like the 3rd brake light option. There does appear to be a number of good LED choices for the existing lense. Perhaps the red LED that I installed in the 3rd brake light would be brighter without the red lense.

Thanks

Haha I'd like to retrofit those as well, anyone have a crappy donor?? The light output may increase a bit with removing the red lense but the lens color is at the same wavelength of the light so you wouldn't see a whole lot of difference.

I have looked into this as well and found that Plain N Simple does offer them. Here is the design idea for mine using a picture i found on their Facebook. This is using some concept LED strips for the "steps" under the red inserts.

Those look sweet, I was thinking like a perimeter lit led highlighting the curvature of the light itself
