You can run whatever you little heart desires.

The reason why the recomendation is there is that projector lights (Ebay for instance) have reduced light output anyway compared to a stock halogen housing, it just looks "cooler". Installing a 10k kit in a ebay projector housing is going to be VERY blue but you won't be able to see 20ft in front of you when it rains.

Reason: water is REFLECTED by blue light causing you to not penetrate the water with your headlights thereby causing you not to see the lines very well, or with 10000k not at all. That is why manufacturers equip with somewhere between 4300-6000 depending on the brand of car. The whiter the light, the better the output.

Any particular reason you wanna run 10k?? I don't know how much you know about this light system but the higher you go, the less light they put out.

EDIT- Other people on here do run 10,000k but personally after having that in my old car for two months, I took it out and ran 6,000k. The difference is night and day. If you want color but less light, go for 10. If you actually want HID for what it was INTENDED to do, go with 4300-6k.

You can put what you want in there....the only time I had an issue with the light was before I put the Halrey heads in because the OEM's scatttered it everywhere....I have driven thru the rain/snow and had no illumination issues.

It will be personal preference.......

Howe much are the projectors you are looking at??
