LED Tails

Hey all,

I'm looking for a high quality set of LED tails for my white Platinum. I had Recon's on my old truck but all I can find on their site is dark smoked lights. I don't really want that since they won't match my white/chrome build. Any recommendations? Looking to spend $300 or less.

Just a heads up. LED aftermarket tails are hit and miss I went through two sets of Anzo and then finally sent them back for a refund. While I like the look of the LED tails the quality on Spyder, Anzo and RECON typically are garbage. Do a Google search for reviews on those brands and just be warned that you may or may not have condensation, water penetration and/or burnt out LED bulbs/circuit boards.

Good luck!

they all need to be sealed prior to install...my anzo's have never leaked and still working like new...been installed 5 years now..most web sites will tell you they need to be sealed prior to install...

Interesting....you would think they would they do it straight from the manufacture then? AnzoUSA says zero about having to silicone their products to ensure keeping water out. I can't think of any other aftermarket product that you have to "modify" to make it work as intended.

At least I don't feel alone about this just one of many threads on the topic. Just saying.

Custom Tailights

I looked and looked at aftermarket tails, but was never really satisfied with the look. Of course now I am hearing about the lack of quality and reliability as well. I decided to take a different route.

Bil (another very long thread here) takes apart headlights and fog lights (mine are shipping from Bil on Monday) and customizes them. I have found someone to do the same thing and surprisingly to me, they are right here in Houston (ok, Pasadena). Plainansimple.com, go to their facebook page for samples of their work on automotive lighting. I have no affiliation with them.

I am having my original set of taillights retro'd with led strips on the sides (5 of them) and leds facing the rear. Actually the leds facing the rear will be small led rings like what Bil is using around the projectors.

How much for this you ask? I first had to find a pair of old lights I could use while mine are being worked on, $40 on ebay (I will sell them when I am done for cost). Yes, they are cracked but you do not really notice it, they are just temps anyway. The cost for the customization is not fully know yet, afterall these are one offs. I am guessing that they will be at least $500, pricy for sure.

Should very very interesting when completed. Will post pics when I recieve them in the next couple of weeks.
