Ok - today I put the Zevos in the license plate light holders. The procedure to do this was a little different from the videos I saw. While I didn't take video, I did take some photos.

First - there isn't a small gap to push a flathead screwdriver in to release the catch (as what the videos I saw noted). The ones in this bumper are flush.

So, I looked under the bumper, and sure enough, there are the tabs to press in to release the lens+light holder assembly:

It was a simple matter to press on the tabs and the assembly pops out.

However, the wiring is attached to the frame, so you can only pull it out a little bit.

The lens assembly easily comes off with a little twist, revealing the bulb under:

The left one came out easily, and the right one needed a bit more convincing. They did both come out and I was able to put the bulbs in:

A simple matter to put the lens assembly back on with a twist in the other direction, and pop it back in place.

I do note that I had put them in with an orientation that looked right - and it turns out, was exactly opposite (they didn't turn on with the lights). I pulled them, and reversed polarity and they work just fine now. I'll take another photo tonight in the dark to see how well they light up the plate.

You didn't actually need to remove the holder, you can just twist the bulb out from the lense from behind... that's what I used to do (now adays I have an aftermarket bumper so it's easy for me to pop the whole housing out).

That's another issue you have with cheaper bulbs. They HAVE to be installed a certain way. Our ClaraLux series are non-polarity (same with our LED Conversion Kits). You can install them anyway, makes installation a real no brainer. No running back/forth or putting the parking break on while putting the truck in reverse/etc... Just install em, walk away.

Do me a favor, WIGGLE the bulb when it's on, does it go in/out? If so that's another sign of poor contacts. The Fords are known to have really crappy contacts on the license plate bulb holder... so some bulbs don't make proper contact as it moves and go in/out... the current bulbs i'm testing now do that. I've yet to put in my own brand of LEDs on my license plate (and it's a 3 second process) and it drives me nuts (today I think i'll just throw my own lights in there to fix this once and for all and throw out the crappy lights or give them away)

I'll check tonight -- these are bright enough to see during the day, but I wanted to check them at night (and photograph it).

Adam,

I've used all of the sylvaina Zevo bulbs and have done so for a couple years. They might have a lower price point, but they're not cheap bulbs. The build is great, they don't have any contact issues and they're still the best LEDs I've tried for all applications besides headlights.

Show me one better side by side and I'll gladly try it.

Just received the new bulbs I told you about today. Not all the color options I wanted since it's just to test but I'll have to get around to testing them out. Here's a photo of some of them (Yes that's a fog light bulb we're thinking of adding in so you can do a quick/cheap replacement, they'd be the same price as our CL90 bulbs)

I'm curious how these will be compared to the others you have.

There is nothing "cheap" or "low quality" about Sylvania ZEVO bulbs. They are some of the best I have used, easily available and cheaper than any vendor prices.

The only real way to A-B these will be to put them on the same truck with one light on one side, and the other on the other side (and of course, to do some before/after photos in the dark.

Your 921 and the interior claralux leds are good. The 3157s just don't throw the light back at the reflector well enough and a lot of light gets lost. They should also tweak the high and low output on those as it needs to be a little more drastic.

I think you're a good dude and I just want you to sell the best stuff. I know you want that too.

The led headlights you sell are great and I will always recommend them to everyone.
