Default Hikari recall

So yesterday I received an email from Amazon saying that the Hikari LED bulbs I bought were being recalled. They provided a link to the NHTSA page about it. In it they state that the Hikari bulbs exceed the allowed brightness and are causing glare for oncoming drivers. I can see this really being an issue if the bulbs have been installed in the halogen housings, but not so much in a projector. According to the filing the LED bulbs are to be returned and the manufacturer has to supply a set of halogen bulbs. Thoughts? I wonder if NHTSA is cracking down on other manufacturers as well?

Headlight Revolution, Diode Dynamics, have both offered recalls on street use LED upgrades. Seems the DOT and regulators are pushing to get the certification/licensing cost, or force discontinuation of sales for street use. KM

I got the same notice yesterday as well, and I also have them in my AlphaRex projectors. I won’t be swapping mine out. LOL
