Default Hid ballast

Ok idk if this will work or a wast of my time to even try but I am sure some out there has tried but I know the hid lights run off a ballast why would happen if you cut out the ballast and bypassed it and ran power straight from the battery one of mine went out cause it was cheap what it was just a thought

No, don't do that, HID bulbs are A/C, your truck is D/C, it won't work or just blow something up. Get a new ballast, don't cheap out.

Nothing will 'blow up' - an HID capsule is an open circuit before ignition. Hence, it simply will not ignite, with only 12vdc available ( where >18kv is required to ignite, then >85v is required to maintain ).

OP - go buy another ballast. Perhaps a pair of better quality units this time: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/com.../ballasts.html
