Default help with lightbar install

Hey guys, in the next day or two I want to install my 20" light bar down in the bumper in front of the intercooler and am planning on wiring it into the high beams. Where is the best place to tap into the high beam signal wire to run to the switch? Is there a wire in the steering column or under the dash somewhere? Or will I need to tap a wire behind a headlight and run it through the firewall? TIA

You should be able to probe the harness that plugs into the headlight assembly with a test light to see which is hot when the high beams are on. Then, use that as your trigger wire to your light bar relay.
That's how I've always set mine up. Just tapped into the harness so when I put my hi beams on the light bar turns on with it. I did not run any switches into the truck.

I would like a switch in the cab so I can turn the lightbar off and still have the highbeams on though.

Why not buy a light bar wiring harness? They are like $10 or $20 on Amazon.

The lightbar came with a wiring harness and I do plan on using it (except for 1 wire) but it is not set up to run with the factory highbeam switch in the truck. The harness is wired with a relay and a separate switch and takes power directly from the battery so when I'm driving on the highway I would need to turn the lightbar switch off along with the highbeams everytime I meet another vehicle. It would just be kind of an annoyance and a pia. I just need to figure out the best way to tap into the high beam lights power wire and run it into the cab to the switch

Get a fuse tap ... basically you'd pull out the high beam fuse, put this "fuse" back in and it has a wire lead coming off of it, and then the actual fuse would plug into the one that you put in. You can get your power from that lead then.

Highbeam trigger should be pulled from BCM connector C2280G either pin 6 or 11. That should be used to trigger the relay. If you also want to be able to use a switch you can tie the BCM trigger to your switch trigger, but be sure to use a diode on the highbeam trigger wire that way when you flip the switch it doesn't back feed the highbeam. If you want to be able to use highbeam and not trigger the lightbar going to need another relay and a 3 way switch or a separate switch.
