Halogen to LED Headlights (2015)
I posted a while back on this topic and am still torn on how to upgrade the ridiculous halogen headlights on my 2015.
I’m currently considering 2 options and would appreciate opinions/advice for anyone that’s gone through this as well.
Consideration 1: upgrade the low beam bulb to an LED bulb like this for around $80:
Consideration 2: replace the entire headlight assembly with something like the Alpharex Pro for $430
Alpharex Pro Link
The Alpharex Pros are still halogen, but I love the LED surround and I assume I could still insert an LED bulb, like the Cougar into the Alpharex.
I’ve watched a couple install videos of the Alpharex and the most complicated part seems to be adding a fuse and running wires from battery.
Do any headlight assemblies exist that are more plug and play? (For under $1,000 perhaps)

I've been in the same boat, and i still lament the price of replacement housings, but even more, the absolute garbage output from the factory halogen units, even in the 13th gen.
I ended up using amazon prime to check out some favourably reviewed LED bulbs, with the plan to really test them for output, scatter and cut-off - knowing i could easily return them if they didn't cut the mustard. They worked well for the winter, until i finally chanced across a set of HID factory units for a "good" price. I was lucky though, local older guy just wanting something back for the cost of the new $1000+ headlights he bought for his platinum.
TLDR; if you're careful and picky, you can get some decent LED replacements for the cost of some decent halogen bulbs (under $50) Ultimately, you need new housings, but not halogen/reflectors, it's a waste of money. Expect to pay between 800 and 1300 for new HID/LED housings but you will really reap the benefits of some excellent lighting.

I have the Alpharex pros and they are great. However as mentioned they do come with halogen bulbs and they are worst then stock. If you go the Alpharex path make sure to change the bulbs when you swap the housing. The installation was more time consuming then complicated and the overall look was worth it.
I'm happy enough with my cheapie projector lights. I like the look of the switchback DRL, its a projector so it has an excellent cutoff and I can adjust the low beam and high beam separately to try and get the best coverage. I was using HID in the low beam but I didn't like that I couldn't get the color match correct between the low beam HID and the LED high beam. I went ahead and changed the HID to LED to keep both lights the same color output. The LED doesn't project as bright as the HID but, meh, its bright enough. One thing I did notice is these units are sealed using the cheaper softer butyl rubber so I may upgrade the projectors down the line to better units.
