Default Grounding question

Hi guys quick question about wiring. I've got my truck cap to wire, nothing crazy just a 3rd brake and an led strip to light my cargo, I'm upgrading from the basic dome light leer provides. I've found my constant power for the dome light and the brake power wires that Ford provides and a 3rd wire which my research shows to be a ground. Can I use just one ground wire for both lighting systems. Since both will not be on at the same time it should be fine right? Would they act up or short out if i ever had both on at the same time?

Thanks
