Default Bright as can be...

Anyone got any views on whats the best & brightest headlights (bulbs) out there? I replaced my girlfriends in her car this weekend and bought the best they had at auto zone and still wasn't very impressed.

I want to also want to replace mine for traveling so I can see better but i want BRIGHT, auto zone's selection just wont do it dont think. I use to have yellow in my dakota, they worked great... until i got pulled over lol so they came out so DOT for me this time. Thanks guys.

I have the Silvania Silverstar in heads and fogs. They work great for me. I tried other bulbs made in Korea and they melted my fog lenses and dark asphalt road dissappeared in the rain. Many of the guys in here run HID kits. They have a pretty wide range in price. I sure would like to try the Silvania Silverstar Ultras but they don't make them for our trucks

Just be carefull. Many times the "brighter" comes from a hotter bulb. Do some research and do what you think will be best for you.

Recently bought some phillips from farm and fleet, (the ones that claim to be 80% brighter than regular halogens). They were 40 bucks for both. Whatever was in my truck before sucked, because these are definetly alot brighter. My high beams before the bulb change are about the same as what my low beams are with the new ones.

I recommend the Sylvania Silverstars. They put out very white light. The only issue with them is that sometimes they do not have the long life of other bulbs. I have had some last as short as 2-3 months. Most have lasted years. If you buy them off E-bay you can get them for around $25 with shipping, which is about 40% the price than Autozone.

I noticed on a few websites you can get a 55w version vs 35w "specifically" for the F150. Has anyone put 55w in a 04-08? would the housing / wiring survive?

The standard wattage is 55W. As far as 35W that must be a real old style bulb.

Before I installed my HID kit, I had the Halo bulbs in Platinum White for both the headlights, and foglights... DON'T go that route! They started to melt the glass in the foglights and the plastic in the headlights...

If money isn't an issue, def go the HID route =) You can see pics of mine in my Garage
