Break lights don’t work after a few minutes

Default Break lights don’t work after a few minutes

2015 FX4. I put on a light bar under the rear tail gate. It worked fine for 6 months. Now, when I turn the truck on the break lights (the factory ones) work for a few minutes and then both side stop working. The middle on on the top of the cab continues to work however. I checks every thing I can find, fuses, connections, ground connection on frame... I ended up just disconnecting the light bar where I spliced in by the plug and now I don’t have a problem. What would cause this issues? How can I make a work around?

I didnt want want to plug into the trailer connection because then the truck thinks it always has a trailer and disables the lane change and annoys the crap out of you with the on dash warnings every time I turn the truck on

what did you tap into to power the light bar? also which light bar?

The LED strip (light bar) has a short in it. Thats my 2 cents
