Not sure what that is. I'm new to the hid/headlight game.

I have HIDs in the low beams. They are whatever the HID upgrade Recon offers. I didn't buy this setup from Recon. I bought them used from someone from the forum here.

I am guessing that they are 5k or maybe less. No blue hint at all. My fogs are 5k and have more blue than these headlights.

Bixenon means hi/low beam. Looks like good output you have there, I really want HID projectors for mine

Default Quick Sillver HID Kit

Installed my Retro Solutions Digital HID 55W 4300k today in my 2011 Lariat, went great.

Install the driver side first. Ran the wires from the battery over the top of the radiator bar, just under the plastic cover piece. I mounted the slim ballasts outside of the radiator post that are metal. So I went to the same location and took the pictures below at the same time of night. We had some fog with the halogens and today with the HID’s it was clear. Given that you can see the difference. Very pleased with the quality of the wiring harness, I didn’t have to or splice anything.

Agreed - that glare and scattered light is horrible. Would hate to meet that on a dark two lane in the rain.

So are they faulty? Or do all recon lights look this way?

Yeah that scattering is very bad, tons of glare. Thats what happens when you fit a halogen projector/housing with HID lights. Proper HID projectors will look like this:

I would definitely keep halogen bulbs in those Recon housings. As you can see in your picture, the light is only illuminating right in front of the truck with no illumination off to the sides. Compare that to the above picture where the width of illumination is super wide with zero glare above the cutoff, keeping light out of the eyes of oncoming traffic.

i have searched and cant seem to find anybody with the problem i have. I installed my DDM 35w hi/lo kit today and everything works fine until i turn my fog lights on and try and switch from high beams to low beams. When i have my low beams and fogs on and switch to high beams, my fogs turn off like they should, but when i try to switch back to my low beams, the lights wont switch out of high beam. I have to turn my fogs off to make them switch back to low beams. Also, if i turn my lights to automatic and try and start my truck, my driver side bulb tries to ignite several times, but then doesnt ignite. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Retrofits are awesome, and someday I'd like to get some with 55w HIDs. Until then, I'm rocking my stockers.

And something that hasn't been mentioned about 'glare' and being flashed. Ever stop to think how much more lumens you're putting out? Its simply a higher light output than the halogens, I got the crap flashed out of me when I ran the knock-off "HID" bulbs, and haven't been flashed once since I fixed up my real HIDs.

@ ak_cowboy....I just ordered my HID's/BiXenon and Fogs from Third Gear Performance. I was scared at first to purchase these bc of my bad luck in the past with HID's (Xentec) but your comments give me hope that these will actually work and not blowout. Just ordered them today, can't wait to install. @Shaar if these fail, I will be buying from you next. I don't know Jon_To but everyone talks highly of him and also highly of you. I've been reading this sticky for hours now and you know a lot of this subject. Even though I did not purchase from you, I know you'll be able to help if I have a million and one questions

ok forum guys ive read all 76 posts (phew) and i still cant find anyone with a solution to a problem thats been posted here a couple times by mmoore and jaygreen.

retro fitted my 05 fx4 sc with morimini 5k and matchbox 5k for fogs from trs.
low beams work amazing!! but the high beam indicator is always on regardles of setting and because the truck sees highs on it doesnt send power to the fog lights. there is a communication code for the ic and vsm.
any ideas people? msall150? is it a canbus issue? ive heard of error cancelers do they work? trs claims its because one of the headlight connectors isnt being used but ive tried pluggin it with a bulb and no change..
thanks in advance guys for any responses.
