All things HID here!!!

Master of Retrofits
Whoever said OEM HIDs aren't brighter than OEM halogens must have never seen HIDs, or is lying to you. I've owned both, OEM halogen and now OEM HID, and, yes, as common sense would tell you, the HIDs are noticeably brighter than halogen. Its not even close. If you wanna believe your friend, that's cool, but he's probably a lot less intelligent than you've been lead to believe if he thinks stock halogen outperformed stock HID. Also, if you want to use sub par components in your retro, by all means, go ahead - I chose quality - and for 2 years now haven't had a single issue. What components does that guy use? Brands of ballasts and bulbs? Does he sell any bulb that is 8000k or higher?
I would like to clear the air on this matter before it gets out of hand.
The order of brightness goes as follows for these trucks: Stock Halogen < OEM HID < Projector Retrofit. Halogens will never outperform HIDs when properly installed in projectors.
We are an Authorized Dealer for TRS and only use Morimoto and/or OEM (Lexus, Denso, etc.) components. Thus, the highest bulb temperature we use is 6000K. If you would have taken some time to look over the link provided in the post you replied to, you'd see all of this.
I appreciate your concern for wanting quality products to be used for your fellow forum member. However, I can assure you I know exactly what I'm talking about and use nothing but the best.
Also, a proper projector retrofit can be had for less money than investing in OEM HIDs (with or without upgraded projectors) just as Parson777 said.
Thank you

OK, I agree with that, the other post didn't say that - which made no sense.
Its good that your build style is on par with what is considered the industry standard - too bad there's still a LOT of people why absolutely refuse to see that.

Had the opportunity to drive right along side a 2013 F150 the other night on one of our larger freeways here in Houston under an overpass system where the freeway lighting was bad and I could see what each car's lamps was broadcasting ahead of us. There were no other vehicles around us either (odd).
In a real-world, side by side comparison of his factory HIDs next to my factory halogens, I was not impressed. I'm glad I discovered this before ponying up all that money just to have a factory look... I'd be putting more money into upgraded projectors, bulbs, and ballasts to get them up to the quality I've come to appreciate in my other cars (European/Japanese).

Retros are like the "master race" of the HL world, nothing tops it, and its fun as hell to be behind it.

I'm in the process of trying to figure out what I want to do to create my own retrofits and have been reading a lot on here and have narrowed down the specs I want to the following...
2014 F150 FX heads
Bi-Xenon: Hella EVOX-R HIDs
D2S: Morimoto 5Five DSP Ballast
D2S: Osram Xenarc 666240 CBI Bulbs
Apollo 3.0 Shrouds
Dual Morimoto XB LED Angel Eyes Amber
Dual Morimoto XB LED Strips Amber (3" above and below F150 logo)
Dual Morimoto XB LED Strips White (6" further above and below F150 logo)
So now that I have narrowed down what parts I want I need to know a wiring harness that will connect all this to my 2013 F150 which has stock halogens in it right now. Also how much custom fabrication will I need for a job like this? Do I need bondo or some sort of plastic adhesive? Anyone with a link to a video or write up on the exact procedures I'll need to do and extra wireing, aluminum tape, bonding agents, etc... that I will need?
I am just trying to price out this entire endevor as I am getting a quote from a retrofit guy and I want to see how much I will save doing it myself.
Thanks in advance,
James

Retro Fit-Going to Give it a Try
I am going to try my hand at doing a retrofit on my 2010. I have an extra set of halogen headlight housings so I will be able to take my time. I talked to TRS and they recommend the Mini Stage III DS2 kit. I will take the housings apart first and if I don't mess that up, then I will order a kit.
I am going to keep it basic, no halos or anything like that.
Any thoughts on this kit? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

That's certainly a good kit.
The D2S has very impressive low beam performance, it's on par with the FXR. Its high beam is good, slightly less distance than the FXR - but its a solid improvement over stock, which is ultimately the goal.
You won't be disappointed with them, that's for sure, the ease of install with the performance together and it's literally the best "easy" retro available.
That's my opinion.
