Eff - nice job.

I think the easiest approach is to purchase mirrors that have the signals already in them, from someone like Jose at http://stores.ebay.com/One-Stop-Mirrors
Installing these wouldn't require prying off the mirror face, but you would still need to remove the interior door panel to get to the 3 bolts than mount the mirror to the door frame. The mirrors he sells apparently include the blinkers and wiring, so you just plug em in and bolt em on. I don't know how much these mirrors are but I don't think they're cheap. You're probably looking at $300 in parts.
Taking the door was really the hardest part, in my experience. Removing the mirror face and mirror backing is not complicated in comparison, and splicing the wires is pretty easy. My total cost was $50ish for the signals and $10 for the wiring and splicers and heat shrink.

There is a '09 - '14 door panel removal procedure video. There is also, one for earlier models, which requires removing the speaker, but is basically the same.
I might add: It seems to go back together easier, if you, unscrew and remove the plastic lock button, then put it back on after the door panel is in place. (make sure the rod is entered in the lock hole and not behind the panel) Also, you don't need to remove the don't handle assembly for mirror work. However, the panel is fairly heavy, so a box or stool to support it, might be in order, rather than just letting it hang by the door handle cables.

Yes, it works fine. If you are able to get the factory wiring, you just replace the wiring, install the components and plug it into the factory door/mirror plug. The other option, as some have done, is to route new wires around the plug and splice them into the proper wires, on the other side of the plug.

I found a set here for 250 and the guy was kind of local so no shipping was involved. Post a WTB in the classifieds like I did. I just put them on today and they work great. now all I need is to get the heaters working.
