Will mpg improve with further break-in?

I also dont think that the 3.5 Ecoboost is inherently bad at towing MPG's, its just that the power is so available and stress free that people are probably more willing to use it. If you can climb a hill at 65mph and only be spinning 2500 RPM with the Ecoboost, where a 5.4 might have been at 5000 rpm to do the same, your probably going to feel better doing it in the Ecoboost. You might not wanna with the 5.4 since its annoying and stressful.

Just pulled my large horse trailer for 600 miles and averaged 12.3 mpg on regular. Was doing around 65 mph on average on hilly terrain. Used cruise control a lot in tow mode and it would jump from 9th to 8th to 7th and back quite a bit. Very impressed with the power, it was quiet and smooth. Running Mobile 1 with Fram Ultra filter.
I actually get a little better mileage pulling my 10k dump trailer but it is much lower profile than the horse trailer. Horse trailer loaded is about 6.5k, so air resistance is big factor in mpgs.
