Why doesn't ford calculate payload, on the build website?

Cycle For Fun and Health
I do admit it seems sad we buy into this propaganda, from what I heard they removed bumpers, stereo system, etc. To get the payload up to that much. I know a vehicle is a bad place to put over 40,000, but I still want one. Granted with non of the crazy expensive options people opt for.
Sounds like maybe the Dodge or Chevy boys talking after dollar beer night.

Ford can't even calculate different costs on their website. I tried to "build and price" a 2017 Heavy Duty Payload F150 the other evening, and the HDPP option isn't even available on the build and price site yet. If you can't build and price it, you sure can't calculate net payload.

I certainly don't disagree with most of the comments folks have posted as to why Ford won't provide the info so this simple suggestion isn't any more valid than any other. Weigh the truck when it rolls off the assembly line and post the truck weight on the door jam sticker. The math is pretty easy after that.
I know, dealers add options, yada, yada, yada - but it seems like it would get you a lot closer to what you need to know than what we have now.
I'm just going to go to the scales next month...

Here is where you find the maximum figures: https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...F-150_v1-0.pdf
Here is where you find the weight of options: https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...load_SB_v5.pdf Scroll down to pages 4-8 and 4-9.

The reason that there is so much confusion and why people are buying the wrong trucks is because Ford refuses to publish the capacities of their vehicles in a clear and easy to understand way. As an example, in less than 30 seconds I can get more information off of a $1 dollar can of soup than I can off of a $50,000.00 dollar truck and with the soup I do not have to use a calculator or go to the internet to understand it. Its shameful.
I hate to say it but I do not believe that there isn't a computer capable to calculating capacities based on options.
I also hate to say it but changing your load capacity based on the weight of the paint or the weight of the mirrors is just ridiculous. Its like saying you are over loaded by being at you max capacity and than adding a bag of apples.

You could provide every single number needed in a plain and easy method to read it, and you would still have more than 1/2 of the population doing nothing with the information.
Don't assume your fellow man has intelligence.

as another poster stated ther are countless combinations WRT building F150s. Although I know they could provide the technology online why would they. You'll realize how inadequate your rig will actually be; Mind you still more capable the other brands. This is why Ford posts and prints documents that give an approximate of everything then slap a sticker and all is legally covered. There counting on flashy bells and whistles and gadgetry and hope you don't look at the sticker or worse impulse bye rather then research absolutely ability. I had to go well outside my regional area before I could find everything on my must have list and still didn't get the most capable F150 as the HD payload was a late availability and I didn't have the luxury of time. Unfortunately EPA and the battle of the most fuel efficient rig has actually made our Riggs less capable. IMHO.
Heck, compare a 2015+ to a similarly equipped 2014 and the 2015+ will have a much higher available payload.
I don't think Ford is trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes...does Ram show you the exact payload on their site (guessing not since some of their trucks are at payload with a family of four and nothing else).

My needs have changed since I purchased a 2014 FX4 Ecco scab, doors says 1350 payload, I want to add a 1500 lb wet pop up slide in, so the search for how to do this is just beginning, not to derail this thread, how is fuel weight added to the available payload picture.?
