Well, this is confusing.
Going through the 2017 Superduty towing guide, and the 6.7 diesel Screw F250 4x4 with 6.4 bed has a 14,100 trailer weight, but the same in an F350 is only 13,600. Both are 15,000 max. 5th wheel is also strange, the F250 is 14,100, and the F350 is 13,600. When looking at max GCWR though its 20,600 for the F350, 14,700 for the F250.
There is a long list of GCWR though so how does one determine which one the truck has? I think that is the most confusing part. It makes it seem as though the F250 is the better choice for conventional towing over the F350, but we all know that Payload is the limiting factor.

Something to do with the F250 being damn near a derated F350 SRW, perhaps? It looks like a lot of the towing specs are 5-600 pounds different between similar configurations; I wonder if the GCWR (and thus towing spec) is less affected by the GVWR derating and thus stays higher because it doesn't need to be derated to stay out of CMV territory.

All that is listed in that link I posted. For the 6.7 there are two gear ratios, 3.31 and 3.55, there are columns for the cab size, WB and bed lengths too, but then there is about a dozen different GCVWR listed. There are no footnotes for determining that though. Is there a GCWR on the white sticker in the SD? I still think it's confusing and makes the F250 look more capable than it is in reality.
I'm with you on this. Originally I 'was' going for a 250 but decided to stay with the 150 since I knew it will tow my current TT and future TT upgrade. In about 5-8 years, if we are still glamping and want something bigger and longer, I'll revist the SD and hopefully all this hubub will clear up a bit

Yeah, your link is to a sales brochure of some sort. You need the actual "2017 RV and RV & Trailer Towing Guide". Here is a link for the latest version of the recent Ford RV and Trailer Towing Guides, including 2017. My copy was revised 10.18.16, or about a month later than the brochure you linked to.

No. The only place I've ever seen the GCWR is the table in the Owner's Guide that explains how to determine the GCWR of your truck. Or it's probably included in the "build sheet" that your Ford dealer can print out of the Ford computer system by inputting the VIN of your truck.

If I were to get one, it would be this one, or very much like this one. Will see what happens in a few weeks, and if it is still there I will check it out. I know they have had it a few months so they may be willing to work a deal by then.

I didn't include the link to the towing guides in my earlier post, but it's edited to include the link now. But understand the 2017 towing guide is at least 39 pages of PDF file, so it will cost you some bandwidth to D/L it.
