Default Weight Safe Hitch Receiver

Hey, I'm looking for a new ball receiver for my new truck. I currently run into an issue on my current truck where sometimes the boat trailer is lower than the ball, and therefore I carry a small jack with me to lift the trailer and allow me to get the ball under it. I could also carry multiple drop hitches as well, not a fan. I'm thinking of getting a hitch with an adjustable drop, something like a 6" drop like

It has a scale for tongue weigh and looks pretty solid. Any opinions? I typically tow around 6k lbs maybe 200 to 300 miles a summer.

Sometimes? Does the truck's height vary that much? Usually, if the ball was low enough for the truck to unhook, it'll be low enough to re-hook.

The trailer doesn't have a built-in tongue jack? You could add one. Electric jacks are becoming affordable, but I put this one on one of my trailers, and it's very functional.

That's the obvious solution. I ordered the Curt adjustable, but it turned out to be just the same Chinese crap, so I returned it & ordered a B&W Tow&Stow. This is the 5" 3-ball black version:
Amazon Amazon
But they also make 3", 7", 9"; 2-ball, pintle, accessory ball mount; and a few in chrome.

If you can, avoid adjustable height bars that use proprietary double and triple *****, they run 0ver $100 to replace, and you rarely can grab one locally.

A
regular adjustable ball mount regular adjustable ball mount
and an
interchangeable ball kit interchangeable ball kit
is a better option for fail safe operation.

I just ordered the 6" drop hitch that includes the tongue weight scale. I think it's so important to make sure you are loading your trailer properly and knowing the tongue weight can go a long way in helping.

I suspect my boat is a bit off, we'll see when I take it out this year now that I have the scale.
