Default trans temp

hello out there - new to this forum and towing. have a f150 xlt v8 w/ tow package and a 24 ft. tt dry: 5700. it tows well and no problems. but i have a question on transmission temp. the service dept. said i have an alternate trans cooler and dash gauge, but when towing it runs around 200 degrees. no indication that it's hot but wondering if that's "normal"
luv the truck and trailer!

rule of thumb is ambient air temp + 100degrees. I watch mine all the time and hauling 6500lbs the highest I have hit was 180. If it starts to hit 220+, time to start thinking about pulling over.

Normal.... Mine also fluctuates between 195-204 while towing my 7500lb trailer. When empty it's usually around 190-195...

When pulling my 6500-7000# rig earlier this spring, I would see 200-202 on the high side when pulling decent hills. On downhill runs or on more level terrain it usually hovered between 197-199. This is with the max trailer tow package with the factory fin and tube cooler.

195-200 solo, 200-205 towing our travel trailer. I have the standard tow package, the max tow gets you a radiator with another row of tubes in the core (per a chat w/ Ford.)
