Default trans cooler size??

I just bought a 2011 f150 XTR 5.0 w/o tow package so I'm going to put an aftermarket trans cooler on. Does it matter what size lines or connectors it has? Any suggestions for best bang for my buck?

The simplest way is to buy all the lines and fittings and heat exchangers involved in the tranny cooler that was OEM in a 2011 5.0L F-150 that has the HD Payload pkg. Any decent Ford parts counter person should be able to give you all the part numbers and their best price for those various parts.

Then shop those part numbers at an online Ford discount parts source to get a good price. Then I'd show that price to your Ford parts counter person and ask him to match those prices. Most will take care of you.

My favorite Ford discount parts source was Tousley Ford Parts. Tousley sold out to one of the mega-dealers but they still have their discounts parts program available.

www.TousleyFordParts.com

Note that link says Tousley Ford Parts, but when you click on it you'll be transferred to AutoNation's White Bear Lake Ford.

I added a cooler to my 2010 with 4.6, the oem is the way to go, Ford lines are a different size the the aftermarket ones. The trick is the transmission line fittings take a special tool to get them off, the fuel line tool looks the same, but the little slider thing on a fuel line tool is tooooo big to work. Here's a link to my install thread.
