Default Trailer Lighting Module error coming up

2016 F150 2.7 ecoboost sport - hooked up my flatbed trailer, plugged the 4 pin connector in and the Trailer Lighting Module errors came up on the dash. As the truck is new I took it back to Ford. They queried if the trailer had brakes (it didn't) and then proceeded to fit the trailer brake kit (for reasons I don't know but it was a free upgrade so I wasnt about to say no). They said they cleared the errors that had been showing and everything should be ok. Hooked trailer up again - same error. Anyone had similar?

Mine throws up messages if I don't name the trailer.
Did you name the trailer?

You can use one of those $20 Trailer Emulators in the plug and drive around and see if you still get messages.

I'd also try to reseat the connector from the harness to the backside of the connector in the bumper. I have the full 7-pin and have found it can cause false trailer disconnects on occasion.
