Default Trailer Breaks locking up

Just bought a new boat, the trailer has a surge brake on it. When I put the trailer in reverse the surge brake does not deactivate and my trailer brakes keep locking up. When my dad hooks his truck up to it he is able to back it up just fine. From what I read it seems like when the truck is put in reverse the surge brakes should be deactivated when the 6 Pin plug is plugged in. I've tried to find a blown fuse or anything that might have to do with the trailer breaks but with no luck. Does anybody know what fuse or relay might have to do with this problem? Thank you

7-pin.

Is the truck seeing the trailer? Have you set it up in the controller?

I do not know if the truck is seeing the trailer, it is a 2014 STX and I don't know if my truck tells me that. I have not set up any kind of controller, it's just how it came from the factory.

If your trailer has (surge) disk brakes, it should have been equipped from the factory with a "free backing solenoid" which receives 12 volts DC from the tow vehicle's backup light circuit. This solenoid disables the brakes when the tow vehicle's transmission is placed in reverse. There will be a five wire connector (as opposed to a four wire connector) from the trailer to the tow vehicle.

Did you set the trailer controller to surge brake in the truck? There should be a hydraulic over electric setting. Try that and see if it helps.

I hate it when breaks break. If brakes break, they can be fixed, but broken breaks breaking leads to other broken things.

Are they drum or disc, some trailers there is a lever that blocks the surge brake couple from moving to activate the piston. That's how my boat trailer works.
