Default towing more than the max

hello

Before anyone freaks out, I know a guy that did it but he has trailer brake and I don't.

going to try to tow a dump trailer 12000-14000 it is a very short distance 5-8miles and maybe 50mph max speed. (I am hauling dirt and I have a very limited budget) need to be done this year...

What do you guys think? would you do it? - I don't have an alternative. the other option will be splitting the load into two but that is going to double my trips. right now I am estimating 16-20 trip.

Thanks for the input

You're endangering everyone else on the road, as well as yourself and your property. Rent a bigger truck or do it in more trips. This shouldn't even be a question.

I know a guy who drove drunk and got home just fine, doesn't mean I am going to do it.

If youre going to do it, then just go do it.

You're not going to get support for towing a Ton (or more!) over the limits, even more so without having trailer brakes.

But since you asked: I would not.

Hire a dump truck and do it in a couple loads at most.

NO!

Pulling it is not the issue. STOPPING it is the issue. I believe it is illegal in every state to tow more than 5K with out trailer brakes.

If some one stops quick in front of you, and you have no trailer brakes, and are overloaded and rear end them, it will not be good for you. Their layers will have a very easy case against you for damages and much more.

What's your truck build and towing capacity? Road conditions?

What your talking about though isn't a one time thing right? 16-20 trips towing 12-14k?

Let's see....double the trips?....endanger myself and everyone one the road?.................
Did you really need to ask us to choose between those 2 options?

This isn't even a question of can I do it without tearing the wholly living crap out of my truck.

I do not know your criminal laws in USA but here in Canada you would be charged of criminal negligence and if anyone gets hurt or die you would be in jail for long.......why risk your safety and worse the others life for such a negligence, have it delivered.
