Default Towing with AC on?

Does towing with the air conditioning on work the transmission harder or make the engine prone to overheating?

Probably not enuf to matter in the long run,if truck is affected by that little amount you have other problems more than likely IMO

Probably not. A/C systems do not take near the HP they used to and they have proven that it takes more gas to drive at hwy speeds than to run the A/C. The same drag that burns more gas, also puts more load on the transmission.

50 years ago, yes. But for a 2011-up F-150, no. If your modern F-150 has an over heating problem when not overloaded, then you have a maintenance problem.

Working the tranny hard is not a problem unless you work it so hard that it overheats the tranny. So don't do that. Watch the tranny temp gauge when mountain climbing and don't allow the tranny to overheat.
