Default Tow mirrors

I want to put tow mirrors on my 2014 F150 STX. My truck has powered mirrors, but no heated, no turn signal, and no puddle. When looking at the Ford Accessories website, it states that only the functions you have on your truck will work on the new mirrors. My question is, one, will the turn signals and puddle lights work, or two, is there a way to make it all work? Possibly a new wiring harness for the doors?

That's pretty clear to me. The heated glass, turn signals in the mirror bodies, and puddle lamps are not going to work with your STX wiring. So yes, it can be fixed if you are an automotive electrical guru, but I suspect you'll need more wiring harness than just in the doors. You'll probably need to extend the wiring to a heater or defroster switch and to the turn signal switch.

But you need the tow mirrors even if all the functions do not work. I installed those on my 2012 Lariat and all functions work because the Lariat trim has all those features in the standard itty bitty mirrors. My Lariat mirrors also had power fold and memory but those functions do not work with those tow mirrors. Power fold was not available and memory cost too much, so my tow mirrors are the same as the ones you're considering.

I have a 2013 STX. I added these mirrors. The puddle lights and the turn indicators in the mirrors were plug and play. To get the heated function to work, I had to get a heater control panel that had the switch for the rear window defrost and heated mirrors. (Same button on the control). There was no wiring to do, I just had to change the control panel.

Or, purchase an aftermarket knockoff for $162.99 through Amazon that are a direct bolt on.

I did this on mine and the fit and finish is great. I too had the basic, powered mirrors without the turn signal and puddle lights. Mounted and plugged in the tow mirrors and both of those features worked! They are also really great mirrors for towing a standard, 8' wide trailer as they stick out about 6" more on each side making the outside of the mirrors 9' apart on the truck.

If they only made them for the '15 ups!

I recognize you from the other forum as well.

They do.

From the accessories catalog, only the manual glass/fold/telescope tow mirrors that were optional for XL trim are available for the '15-up F-150:

Those are certainly better than no tow mirrors.

If you want the power tow mirrors for '15-up XLT, they are not available from the accessssories catalog yet, but they are available from the Ford parts counter. But they will cost you a lot more than if they were available in the accessories catalog. And they don't come as a kit with both mirrors - you must order both sides. Here's the driver's side tow mirror from a discount Ford parts dealer. List price more than $1,000 but discount price less than $700. Times two, that's almost $1,400 for the pair.

I did the same thing on my '07. I'm researching the heated mirror function now.

I recently purchased these, too. They come with a wiring "adapter" that plugs into the new mirror and the existing harness. This wiring adapter allows the signals to operate but not the puddle lights or warmers (2005 XLT 5.4 4x4)

FWIW
I purchased mine from 1A Auto who is a vender on this forum. I don't normally pump the tires for stores but I have had no issues with my tow mirrors and I beat the crap out of them hunting and fishing year round with trees banging into them all the time. Everything still works and the only time I had an issue is when a drunk crossed the center line and smashed one off.

I have no issue recommending their tow mirrors and the price is far better than Ford Dealer mirrors with the same design.

Thank you for this info. I ordered the one with the turn and puddle lights. When I plugged them in, it all worked just fine. I’m now looking for the heater control with rear window defrost.
