Default Tow Guide

I was browsing the Campingworld website and ran across their Can I tow this link, https://rv.campingworld.com/towguide

It is pretty accurate. Example, I used my truck (you can use the dropdowns, or enter VIN) and it will list the models of trucks. For mine it came out at 7600 pounds, which is right about what my truck can tow.

Not bad for an RV dealer.

EDIT: after putting in my VIN, it listed my truck correctly, but the higher trims and lower trims are backwards, so not that great afterall.

It was 2,400 pounds off for mine.

I put my vin in, and it came up with a different list, the higher trims are WAY off! So looks like it isn't as accurate as first through, at least the Lariat came out right.

Looks like it doesn't really account for engine choice and tow packages. I think if people tell me their engine and paint color I could make guesses that are as accurate.

Yeah, I didn't see the other trims being so far off the first time I used it, when I used my VIN then the numbers were different. I think it is odd that the Lariat has a more real world rating than the rest, especially the XLT models which should be where the Platinum is, so looks like they are backwards.

It also doesn't account for post-factory accessories, such as bigger, heavier wheels, tonneau cover, etc.

I put my VIN in and it shows my 2014 Limited to have the highest GVWR, which is surprising.

I have a 2010 F150 Harley Davidson Edition 5.4L V8 4 door 5'6" bed with a axle tag of B6 so I have a 3:73 gear ratio leaving me I understand a 5100 lbs towing capacity. ill like to increase that capacity to tow a heavier travel trailer like 9,000 las or more. Is that possible with modifications/changes/ what gear ratio should or should i change that too? and anything else I should do like suspension wise with leaf springs? any suggestions?

Bossman1 - based on your question I assume you don't have Max tow or FX4? FX4 gest you to a 15,500 GCWR (9,600 towing) and Max tow tucks have a 17,100 GCWR (11,200 towing)
