Default Slide-in Camper

Hello, I copied the numbers from the labels on the door jab. My truck is 2014 4x4 3.5L EcoBoost SCAB with 8' bed. There are two towing packages installed.

Front: 4050 lbs
Rear: 4800 lbs
GVWR: 8200 lbs
Do not excess 2173 lbs.

I'm confusing with those numbers. I am not sure how heavy can my truck carry slide-in camper without overload.

If that 2173# is off the yellow sticker, that is what you can put in and on your truck. That number includes fuel but no humans. Everything ever added after fuel takes away from payload.

So, how many pounds can I carry? Just me and my spouse plus foods, maybe 350 total.

2173 - 350 = 1823

That don't look good. Maybe I should get a traveling trailer instead?

Yes. F150s and half-ton trucks in general aren't meant to carry slide-in campers. Your f150 is likely fine up to about 7,000 lbs travel trailer.

Lance Slide in camper stated that 3 of their campers will work on those F150.

You'll have to do the math yourself. Lance camper weight, + pots & pans, water, food, bedding, clothing. Bring any tools? folding chairs? Have I missed anything? The published weight is the empty weight, it's up to you to calculate "traveling weight"

Not sure which F150 they are talking about.

Even their smallest LANCE 650 TRUCK CAMPER has an estimated wet weight of 1903 lbs.

Hell, even my F250 with 2,766 lbs of payload would only be able to carry the 650 or 825 short bed models. 850 and up would overload the truck.

Thats because they want to sell you one.
They don’t care if it is too much, same with travel trailer salesmen.

“Says right here, half ton towable.”

You have to know what the numbers are and mean, and probably be prepared to argue with the salesman about it.
