Default Rv towing

I have a 2010 f150 xl with 4.6 engine and towing package 3.73 gear. Thoughts on pulling 6200 lb travel trailer with just the factory 4 inch x 12 inch transmission cooler. Mainly midwest hills no mountains. Thank you.

What's the tow rating and payload rating for your truck? that means more than the gears.

https://www.ford.com/resources/ford/...vF150sep09.pdf

read under trailer towing selector, before the chart, what it says.

take your payload number, subtract out about 13% for tongue weight, and you're left with how much cargo/passengers weight you can fit. Depending on the model of 4.6, you can tow anywhere from 5900 to 9klbs (maximum trailer weight assuming you fit within the GCWR and under payload max).

If you have the towing package, and you don't exceed the tow ratings, then you shouldn't have cooling issues. If there have been any mods, like a tuner, or other engine performance enhancements, then there could be a cooling issue, but only if you abuse the power.

Is this the 2v or 3v 4.6L? 2V looks like it would be over its max tow rating at 6200 lbs. the 3V looks like its between 8-9000 lbs so you should be fine.

The weight isnt really even the big issue with the travel trailers, its the air drag. That 2V will be STRUGGLING to drag that trailer through the air at highway speed.

Take the payload number off your door jamb, not a chart.

+1 to that.
Also keep in mind that you are going to have to keep a sharp eye on the transmission gauge even if you are rated to pull in the 8k-9k# range. My 4.7L 4Runner was rated at 7300# and my TT was maybe 5K# and I was limited to 65 mph only on flat stretches where there were no cross/head winds. Pulling a sail really works the transmission. It's the reason why I just upgraded to the 5.4L F150 also with the 3.73.
