Hey everyone. First off, I'd like to say thank you for everyone with assistance with my question. I've reviewed several tire review threads on here but truly want to make sure I make the right decision when replacing my tires here in the coming days/weeks. I have a 2018 STX 2.7L SuperCrew with FX4. I currently have the 225/75/R20 Hankook Dynapro ATM 113T 560 A A tires that came with it when I bought it new. I've put just under 60k miles on them and have overall been a decent tire so I honestly have no complaints on them but possibly want something else. We have a travel trailer that I tow with this so it ultimately will be a part of the decision process on which tires to select. I'd like to go with an All Terrain tire and know that they do come with road noise. The wife doesn't want a ton of road noise but I honestly feel like the current tires are way louder than they used to be so I'm hoping there may be something close to the current amount of road noise. Are there any downfalls with going with an A/T tire with a travel trailer that I'm not thinking of? I'd like to have a little more of an aggressive looking tire and ensure functionality for two tracking when needed as we venture out a lot while camping.
Again, I thank you all for your time and input on this!
I (quite literally) just replaced my stock Hankook tires. What's on now are Falken Wildpeak AT3W in 275/55R20. So far, they seem to be a little more comfortable riding but that's just first impressions from the ride home and the road isn't particularly bumpy, so not exactly a good comparison. These are 55K mile tires. My wife's car has Michelin Defenders and they do ride really nicely and no complaints about them... and I would expect that the Defender LTX tires to be similar. Those are 70K mile tires, but they're not 3PMS rated but I've read more than a few reviews that they do reasonably well in the snow. The KO2's apparently are pretty decent as well, but I have read they're not quite as good as the Falken's in wet traction.
I'd say, if you're going to switch away from the stock Hankook tires, any of the tires mentioned thus far in this thread should do you well.
Been running BFG KO2 for 50k. I tow a lot. They are pretty worn & due for replacement. They are a heavy tire. Mpg loss 1 to 1.5 mpg.
Heavy side walls are great for towing. And for airing down off-road. They are not real noisy either.
Been considering Falken Wildpeak C rated for a lighter tires. But reviews say they are noisier. Think I’ll stay with the BFGs.
Thank you for the feedback! I reached out to a couple of larger tire store's to get their opinions as well and one was pushing the BGF KO2's while the other had hesitation with those as I guess there were quality issues in the past that was causing them to wear out sooner than they should. They did mention that some of those items have been addressed but they had some hard times to get out of that one. It's good to know that with that tire being 12 lbs heavier than my Hankooks in regards to the potential loss in MPG's as well so thank you for that!

Thank you for the feedback! This was the tire that Ford was pushing to put on. I like the idea of the longevity, reduced road noise and quality they put out. I just prefer the look of an AT so it's a matter of debating that one out with my wife.

Thank you for the info! Are you referring to the Discoverer AT3 XLT or 4S?

Thank you for the feedback! I've heard a lot of conversation around the Fallen Wildpeaks as well. Do you have the D or XL load range? Going back to the topic of weight of the tires, the XL weighs 6 lbs more than the Hankooks while the D are 15 lbs heavier. Did you notice any change in fuel economy between the two?

I got the XL rated (117 load index) tires. While I'm not certain exactly what the weight difference is between the Hankook tires and these, I do seem to feel these may be a slight bit heavier. As to fuel economy, I literally just had them put on the truck today so I haven't had the opportunity to determine any difference in fuel economy yet. I have had a chance to drive my normal commute route on the new tires and they do seem to soak up the bumps noticeably better than the old tires did, so I guess you could say the ride is better than it used to be.

They look good for sure! From what I've found is that the XL weighs 6 lbs heavier than the Hankook's. The Cooper's are 3 lb's heavier but I'm definitely interested in both of them as both are minimal weight differences. The advantage of the Cooper's is that they have them in stock and I wouldn't have to wait until next week. That and we have another camping trip next week so wanting to get them on obviously sooner rather than later.

Those Falkins 6lbs over stock probably won’t kill your mpg much and have a higher weight rating.
The Copper 4S always comes in light weight and should hit the stock weight ratings.
Yokohama has an all terrain too that is generally pretty light and oversized.
Check the load rating, weight rating, max psi, and weight of the tire.
When I compared the two, they were the same across the board according to Tire Rack at least. I keep reading that the Falken's have better wet and winter traction but when I talk to the tire stores, they say the opposite so it's hard to judge on that. I've found more negatives on the Cooper's than the Falken's online. For whatever reason all of the ratings across all of the tire places online that I've looked at have the Cooper's rated higher so it's a little confusing to hear such contrast. The other difference I've read is that the Cooper's have a softer ride while the Falken's are a rougher ride. I thought the Hankook's were a rough ride in all honesty over bumps so I don't know if the Falken's would be a rougher ride which would point me to the Cooper's. The joys of decisions around this am I right? haha
